    In a Slavic country like Czechia (formerly called theCzechRepublic), you can buy sourdough bread everywhere. It’s a staple food that unites the nation – us Czechs take it for granted, and I was lucky enough to go through a journey of leaving its home country, living in Scotland for 5 years, experiencing a decline in my health and starting to pay attention to what I eat. Eventually paying attention turned into being quite passionate about food, and bonding with sourdough baking strongly, giving my sourdough bread to my friends, running a sourdough baking workshop and training a local bakery in this craft.



    On this workshop, I’d love to share my love for sourdough with you, and allow you to leave with the knowledge of making your starter, taking care of it, baking bread with it (or pizza, even pasta if you wish). I’d like you to take prepared bread dough home that you can bake yourself, and also to taste my sourdough bread at the workshop with some toppings (bring your own if you feel like making one, I’d be grateful & pleased!


     


    So why sourdough? Let me tell you. In your gut, there are more bacteria (the friendly kind) then you have cells in your body. This bacteria is like a base stone of your immunity and health - if you treat it well, your health and immunity will keep improving. A sourdough starter that is used instead of yeast in sourdough baking has a lot of bacteria in it, that de-activate anti-nutrients in whole grains that prevent us humans from absorbing them, pre-digests gluten and also makes the raising of the bread happen.


     


    Bread baked with sourdough starter will last forever, it will just dry out instead of going moldy. It's

    I hope that you will give sourdough a try, and let it change your life like it changed mine. I am grateful to this simple, affordable staple food for accompanying me in times of poverty and always supporting my body with good nutrition. I am also very grateful for people who enjoy it and allow me to make them happy by giving them some freshly baked bread :) Looking forward to seeing you at the workshop!
