The Power Station of Art in collaboration with Magda Danysz gallery will be showing for the first time in China the last short film directed by French artist and filmmaker JR, ELLIS. For this unique event in Shanghai, Magda Danysz will present JR’s work as an introduction to the film and will answer the participants questions at the end of the projection.

上海当代艺术博物馆与MD画廊首次在中国合作展示由法国艺术家和电影制作人JR执导的最新电影短片ELLIS。藉着此次场合，Magda Danyszn女士

会展示JR的作品作为对电影的介绍，以及在活动最后回答参与者的题。

The short narrative film, ELLIS, awakens our collective memory. Leaving their past behind them, immigrants fleeing poverty, discrimination, dictatorship arrived there. Ellis Island was the gateway to the United States for millions of immigrants. Upon arrival, they were processed, approved or denied access. Due to sickness or simply tiredness, many were placed in the hospital. A purgatory of sorts, in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, where thousands of men, women and children awaited their fate. ELLIS tells the forgotten story of these immigrants who built America while questioning about those who currently seek the same opportunities and safety in this country and other parts of the world. The short film stars Academy Award Winner Robert De Niro, was written by Academy Award winner Eric Roth and directed by the artist JR whose Unframed art installations in the abandoned Hospital complex serve as the set for this powerful and timely film.

ELLIS 这部短片 唤醒我们集体的记忆。移民者逃离贫困、歧视、专政而到达Ellis Island（爱丽丝岛），它是百万移民者进入美国的大门。在到达

爱丽丝岛之后，他们会被准许或拒绝进入美国。由于疾病以及疲劳，很多人被安置到了医院。在自由女神像的影子下，成千上万的人在等待着他们

的审判。Ellis向我们诉说这些建立了美国的殖民者们被人遗忘的故事，也向其他想在美国或者世界其他地方寻找同样的机会和安全的人提出疑问。

这部影片由奥斯卡获奖者Robert De Niro担任主角，Eric Roth编剧，JR执导JR在废弃的医院中放置了他Unframed系列的艺术作品，并把其作为这部强大的电影的场景。

Magda Danysz is a Paris and Shanghai based gallery owner. Inaugurated first on the Bund, the “MD Gallery” in Shanghai moved in 2012 to a 1000m² new space in the North Bund area becoming the largest ground floor gallery in Shanghai, offering an exceptional exhibition space to artists.

Magda Danysz presents Chinese and international artists that are both emerging and established (as Maleonn, Yang Yongliang, Liu Bolin or Zhang Dali). She has built a platform for exchanges between the Chinese and the international art scene. Among many other projects she brought to Shanghai “The Wrinkles of the City” project by JR in 2010 on the occasion of Shanghai Biennale were she 

was appointed member of the head committee.

Magda Danysz has also taught cultural policies at Sciences Po Paris. She is on the board of the cultural digital arts center “Le Cube” un Issy-les-Moulineaux. In 2007, she has been decorated by the French ministry of culture as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. She has also written various art book as her 400 pages “Anthology of street art” or more recently the book “Les Bains-

Résidence d’Artistes”.

唐妮诗（Magda Danysz）是MD画廊的创始人。在2009年，MD画廊在外滩成立，在2012年，MD画廊搬迁至靠近北外滩的1000m²的新空间，成为

上海最大的平地画廊，为艺术家提供了一个独特的展览空间。

唐妮诗非常支持国内外的艺术大师以及艺术新秀(如马良、杨泳梁、刘勃麟、张大力等），建立了中国和国际视野下的交流平台。其中，在2010年的上海双年展进行之际，她把JR的"城市的皱纹（The Wrinkles of the City） »项目带到了上海，并且被任命为展览委员会成员之一。

唐妮诗女士曾经任教于巴黎政治学院的文化政策系，并且也是伊西勒布林诺的视觉文化中心"Le Cube"的董事会成员。于2007年，被法国文化部授予艺术与文学骑士勋章。同时她也撰写过多本艺术书籍，例如四百余页的《Anthology of street art》以及其最近的新书《Les Bains-Résidence d'Artistes》。
