The sun-shaped pie has a story dating back several millennia, and many countries still keep the tradition alive by eating it at the beginning of January every year.King’s Day, also called the Epiphany is the day the Three Kings are said to have presented their gifts to baby Jesus. In France, this day is called Le jour des roisor La fête des rois and Galette des Roisor Kings Cake is eaten to honor the day.

这个太阳形状的派有一个可以追溯到几千年前的故事, 许多国家仍然保持着在每年一月初吃国王蛋糕的这个传统。国王节, 也叫埃皮法尼, 据说是三王向婴儿耶稣赠送礼物的日子。

The season for King’s cake extends from the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas (Twelfth Night and Epiphany Day), up until the end of Shrovetide: Mardi Gras, "Fat Tuesday," or Shrove Tuesday; the day before the start of Lent.

The French version of the king's cake has an almond-flavored filling. A bean is hidden inside the cake, and the one who finds it in her/his slice, becomes the king or queen for the day!

法国版的国王蛋糕有一个杏仁味的馅儿。 将一个豆子藏在蛋糕里, 在蛋糕里找到豆子的人, 成了当天的国王或王后!

The Ingredients:

-       Puff pastry made from flour, water and butter

-       Filling made of butter, sugar, almond flour, eggs, rum and vanilla

The Experience:

- Make your own cake from scratch or by using a ready-made pastry (up to you!)

- Enjoy a traditional King’s day celebration with Agora Space
